Information 4/7/07 -I have finally gotten off of my lazy butt and scanned in a copy of the article that Lena Ina did for me in The Twinsburg Sun. I was pretty happy with it, but she forgot to mention my wonderful girlfriend Bridget and mentioned the place I work instead. It's all good though, it was a very nice article and I'm still pretty excited about it. It also ran a week later than I was told because they wanted to put me in that Community Life section with all of the pictures you will see. So check out the multimedia section for the jpg file with my article. -Brett3/19/07 - Once again I returned to the Battle of Columbus. It was a good tournament with a lot of friends. Once again my wonderful girlfriend, Bridget, was there to cheer me on to victory. The San-Ryu-Do team did very well and Dr. Braff and I arevery proud. I was able to work with Tricia Pistella a little bit while we were there and she earned her purple belt, so congrats to you little lady. I am happy to say that my article comes out in the Sun News on Thursday, March 22. I will be on the cover of the Arts and Entertainment section. Everyone head out there and buy yourselves a copy or two, you'll be happy you did I'm sure. That's all for now,-Brett 3/11/07 - Adrian Michigan, I still am not sure exaclty where it is in relation to the state, but I know I was there. The Black Dragon's Den school hosted it's tournament at the Adrian College sports complex yesterday. It was a very well-run and organized tournament and Professor Rodriguez should be proud. Once again Sherri Houser came, saw and conquered, taking a first, second, and third place medal in 3 out of 4 events. She was once again the female Reserve Grand Champion of the tournament and made us all proud to call her one of the San-Ryu-Do family. She also had one of her students there who also did well for himself with a first and second place. It was a good day of new friends, old friends, and coming home to a wonderful woman who loves me.-Brett P.S. I have my sitdown interview with the Sun News on wednesday (the day after my 24th birthday) so stay tuned for more on that. 3/5/07 - As always, the Arnold Martial Arts Festival was a huge sucess. I did well in competition, and had a lot of friends and family present. I would like to thank everyone who was there to support me, including my girlfriend Bridget, my father and step-mother, my cousin Jess, and all of the San-Ryu-Do family that was present. One of the people I can claim as a student, Matt Owen, received the Chris Canning Award, which goes to a student and Martial Artist that exibits superior qualities on and off the mat. Another high point of the weekend is that I should have an article coming out sometime soon in the Sun Newspapers. The reporter took a ton of pictures of me and he should be calling me shortly to hammer out the details of the article. I will post another blog on this when I know more. For now I wish you all a great year, because I know it is going to be a great year for me. With a start like this, how can it not be? -Brett1/9/07 - Welcome to the new year! I have just recovered from my weekend trip out to Atlantic City, NJ for the Action Martial Arts Magazine Trade Show and Hall of Fame. It was a blast! I caught up with Chuck Zito, who recently made the news because of his new main squeeze. I also made friends with Michelle Krasnoo, who by the way is a real sweetheart and she tells me that her new husband is a great guy, so congrats to you two. I put up a link to her site in the links section. There were soo many more people that I got to talk to and got reaquainted with, that I can't even remember everyone I talked to, so sorry if I didn't mention you. (That just means you need to hang out with me some more and I'll brag about how awesome you are too) While Action was a lot of fun, my biggest news comes just today. I will be moving into my very own apartment this weekend. It all happened really fast, it was a right place at the right time type deal. So that will keep me busy. My job is still pretty hectic, but at least I'm not working 6 days a week anymore. My hope is that with a place of my own, I can get back into training like I have been wanting to do for a while now. With a new environment, it is easier to develop and change habits, so watch out for my guns in the future... they will be loaded... ok... cheesy... but you grinned.. I can tell. Now, I still need to reschedule my 3rd Dan test, so that will be coming up soon. 2007 looks like it's going to be my best year ever, so I am looking forward to many new adventures for this year. That's the way the cookie crumbles... -Brett |
